Product orientation inspection

Orientation inspection prevents incorrectly presented products reaching labelling, assembly, robotic handling, packing or other downstream operations.

Application-led engineering

A vision system engineered around your process.

We determine which visible features provide a stable orientation reference, then link the result to reorientation, reject, robot guidance or line-control logic.

We start with representative products, known defects, acceptable variation, line speed and the required response. That evidence determines the field of view, resolution, optics, processing and mechanical design.

What it can inspect

Typical orientation checks.

Every item below is subject to application proof using the actual product, presentation and production conditions.

Front/back and top/bottom identification

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Rotational angle and clocking

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Component pose in a nest or fixture

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Container handle, seam or feature position

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Label or artwork facing direction

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Pick-position outputs for automation

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Production value

Make the inspection part of the process.

Detection is only useful when the result is delivered to the right control, operator or quality record at the right time.

  • Protect downstream machines from incorrect presentation
  • Improve reliable robot or cobot picking
  • Reduce manual rework caused by rotated products
  • Use product recipes for different orientation rules
Capture to action

One coordinated inspection workflow.

1

Capture

Trigger a stable image using controlled lighting, suitable optics and repeatable product presentation.

2

Decide

Apply proven rules, measurements or trained models with product-specific acceptance limits.

3

Act

Reject, divert, stop, alarm, guide automation or pass the result to production data systems.

Questions, answered

Vision inspection FAQs

How accurately can orientation be measured?

Accuracy depends on image resolution, feature contrast, product movement and calibration. We test the actual product before committing to a tolerance.

Can the system guide a robot?

Yes, a vision system can provide position and angle data to compatible automation where the application requires guided picking or placement.

What if products look similar from both sides?

We look for a stable distinguishing feature, change the lighting or add another view. If no visible difference exists, another sensing method may be needed.

Start with the product and defect

Let’s prove the inspection before you commit.

Send us samples, images, line-speed information and the defects you need to detect. We’ll recommend the right next step.
