Colour and shape checking

Colour and shape checks help prevent mixed variants, malformed products and the wrong component entering a pack or assembly.

Application-led engineering

A vision system engineered around your process.

Controlled illumination and stable colour calibration are essential. We design the enclosure, background and acceptance limits to separate true defects from normal production variation.

We start with representative products, known defects, acceptable variation, line speed and the required response. That evidence determines the field of view, resolution, optics, processing and mechanical design.

What it can inspect

Typical colour & shape checks.

Every item below is subject to application proof using the actual product, presentation and production conditions.

Correct product or component colour

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Shade range and colour consistency

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Profile, contour and silhouette

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Shape completeness and deformation

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Variant or SKU classification

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Mixed-product and wrong-part detection

Configured against agreed examples, limits and the required line response.

Production value

Make the inspection part of the process.

Detection is only useful when the result is delivered to the right control, operator or quality record at the right time.

  • Detect mixed variants before packing
  • Apply repeatable limits to natural product variation
  • Monitor trends in colour or process consistency
  • Combine colour and geometry in one decision
Capture to action

One coordinated inspection workflow.

1

Capture

Trigger a stable image using controlled lighting, suitable optics and repeatable product presentation.

2

Decide

Apply proven rules, measurements or trained models with product-specific acceptance limits.

3

Act

Reject, divert, stop, alarm, guide automation or pass the result to production data systems.

Questions, answered

Vision inspection FAQs

Can a camera measure small colour differences?

Yes, within a controlled optical environment. The achievable distinction depends on the product finish, lighting, camera and calibration.

Will changing daylight affect the result?

An engineered inspection station controls or excludes ambient light so production decisions are not dependent on changing factory daylight.

Can natural products be inspected?

Often, but acceptable natural variation must be represented in the sample set so limits reject genuine faults without excessive false rejects.

Start with the product and defect

Let’s prove the inspection before you commit.

Send us samples, images, line-speed information and the defects you need to detect. We’ll recommend the right next step.
